STATS ChipPAC Reduces Time Required To Restore Microsoft® SharePoint® Data By 98% And Lowers Content Database Storage By 50% With DocAve®

STATS ChipPAC, a global provider of semiconductor packaging and testing solutions, had grown its Microsoft SharePoint environment into the company intranet and collaboration hub for ~4,000 users, housing about 300 GB of content. Restoring accidentally deleted documents with SharePoint’s native tools required full database restores and could take up to four hours, so IT needed a customizable backup strategy, faster single-item recovery, the ability to offload older content to lower-tier storage, and a simple, full-fidelity migration path.

STATS ChipPAC deployed AvePoint’s DocAve suite (Backup & Restore, Storage Manager, Migrator, Content Manager), implementing weekly full and frequent incremental backups with two-week granular retention, business-rule-based offload of content older than two years, and a direct migration from WSS 3.0 to SharePoint Foundation 2010. The result: restore time for a user document fell to five minutes (a 98% reduction), 150 GB of older content was offloaded to lower-tier storage cutting the content database to ~150 GB (50% reduction), platform performance improved, and migrations retained metadata, versions, and security.
