Sanlam, a leading South African financial services group with more than 10,000 employees, was rolling out Microsoft SharePoint 2010 alongside an Exchange migration and needed to govern a large, shared high‑availability farm. IT required customised, automated reporting and user‑activity auditing and had to migrate content from Lotus Notes and network file shares into SharePoint to meet performance, governance and compliance requirements.
Working with partner Intervate, Sanlam deployed AvePoint’s DocAve suite (Report Center, Auditor, Migrator, Administrator) to automate reporting, auditing and migrations. The solution produced customised monthly reports for business and auditors—freeing about four staff hours per month—retained metadata and folder structures during migration, and moved 3.6 GB from Lotus Notes in two hours and 23 GB from file shares in three days (an 86% time savings), improving governance and auditability across the SharePoint environment.
