Roche Diagnostics Performs Item-Level Recovery Of SharePoint Content, Reports On Site And File Usage, And Connects To File Shares With DocAve®

Roche Diagnostics Japan, a division of Roche focused on diagnostic tests and systems, had standardized on Microsoft SharePoint (MOSS 2007) but faced critical challenges: native SharePoint tools couldn’t provide fast, item-level restores, administrators needed more granular usage reporting, and large files remained on file servers—creating performance and storage issues. These limitations threatened 24/7 call-center continuity and made it difficult to manage and identify unused content across global teams.

Roche partnered with Sonorite and implemented AvePoint’s DocAve platform—Backup & Restore, Auditor, and File Share Connector—which enabled instant item-level recovery, detailed item-level auditing, and direct access to file-share content through SharePoint without migrating files. The result was reduced business disruption, better insight to remove obsolete content, improved platform performance and SQL storage savings, and a roadmap to automate lifecycle and permission management with additional DocAve modules.
