A AvePoint Case Study
North American Construction Group (NACG), an Alberta-based provider of mining, heavy construction and industrial services, needed to migrate its popular SharePoint intranet from SharePoint 2007 to 2010 while reorganizing a single content database that had ballooned to roughly 425 GB with documents having up to 90 versions. Native migration and backup tools were impractical—restructuring would have been resource intensive, recovery of single items could take days, and consultant fees for a native migration were estimated at more than $100,000.
NACG implemented AvePoint’s DocAve Migrator and DocAve Backup & Restore to perform granular, scheduled off-hours migrations, limit document versions, and enable fast backups and restores. The legacy migration completed in four days, the deployment was reorganized from one site collection into eight, storage was reduced by about 155 GB (425 → 270 GB), daily full backups were scheduled, restores can take as little as 15 minutes, and the company avoided over $100,000 in consultant fees.
