LPMA Optimises File Share Content And Accelerates SharePoint Adoption With DocAve Connector

The Land and Property Management Authority (LPMA) of New South Wales, Australia, is a government agency of about 1,900 staff across 90 locations responsible for statewide land information. After consolidating multiple agencies and deploying Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007, LPMA faced the challenge of presenting and managing roughly 8 TB of legacy file-share content without migrating it into SQL-based SharePoint content databases, while preserving existing permissions and avoiding business disruption.

LPMA deployed AvePoint’s DocAve File Share Connector to attach file shares to SharePoint so users could use SharePoint’s search, versioning, workflows and permissions without importing data. The approach avoided a costly migration, preserved SQL capacity (reducing planned content databases from ~80 to 2–3), shortened the rollout by 9–12 months, and enabled enterprise-wide collaboration and management of legacy content.
