A AvePoint Case Study
Kaneka Corporation, a diversified Japanese manufacturer with subsidiaries worldwide, moved from IBM Lotus Notes to Microsoft SharePoint to standardize document management and support global information sharing. The IT team faced three key challenges: migrating legacy Notes content and ongoing reorganizations, ensuring comprehensive backup and fast granular restores, and optimizing SharePoint storage to prevent content-database bloat.
Kaneka deployed the AvePoint DocAve platform (including Content Manager, Backup & Restore, and Connector) to migrate Notes content, enable item-level recovery, and connect file-share libraries to SharePoint. As a result, administrators can restore SharePoint content in as little as 15 minutes, 200 GB of file-share data is accessible through SharePoint (reducing pressure on the 500 GB content database), and migrations and storage management have been simplified to support continued SharePoint adoption and future Office 365 plans.
