A AvePoint Case Study
Hawke’s Bay Regional Council (HBRC), the New Zealand public authority that manages regional air, land, water and coastal resources, relied on Microsoft SharePoint for its website, intranet and document management system. With critical internal and external content in SharePoint and an expected migration of large file shares, HBRC needed scheduled full, granular and incremental backups and a way to rapidly restore lost or deleted items—native SharePoint recovery would have required full database restores and could take up to two days.
HBRC deployed AvePoint DocAve Backup and Restore to run weekend full backups and nightly granular/incremental backups, preserving metadata, security settings and version history while automating alerts and SLA-driven processes. DocAve enabled item-level or farm restores in about 15 minutes (99% faster than the estimated two-day native recovery), reducing disruption, protecting growing SharePoint data and providing 24/7 technical support.
