Extendicare Administrator Saves Up To Eight Hours Per Week On Microsoft® SharePoint® Data Protection And Management With DocAve®

Extendicare, a major North American long-term care provider based in Ontario, deployed Microsoft SharePoint 2007 to run intranet, collaboration, payroll and document scanning for thousands of users. Webmaster Aryan Nava faced two key challenges: reliably moving updated sites from development to production without disrupting users, and performing granular, scheduled backups beyond the site-collection level that native MOSS tools could not provide.

AvePoint’s DocAve (Content Manager and Backup & Restore) enabled rapid content moves and flexible backups: small sites (≤25 GB) were moved into production in under five minutes, larger sites (up to 50 GB) were scheduled overnight, and DocAve provided weekly full backups plus frequent incremental and item-level backups and restores (about five minutes per item). The solution removed the need for after-hours work, improved data protection and reporting, and saved the administrator an estimated five to eight hours per week.
