Extelligent Design Saves Six Weeks Migrating The Catholic Education Office Canberra And Goulburn To Microsoft® SharePoint® 2010 With DocAve®

The Catholic Education Office Canberra and Goulburn (CEOCG), which supports 56 schools and about 2,000 staff, relied on a single-server SharePoint environment (80 GB intranet, 20 GB website) that was causing slow performance and hampering frequent website updates. Facing a platform upgrade from MOSS 2007 to SharePoint 2010 and the need to map Choice and LookUp fields to managed metadata, CEOCG engaged Canberra-based SharePoint consultancy Extelligent Design to design a virtualized, scalable server topology and manage the migration.

Extelligent Design used AvePoint’s DocAve Migrator to perform full-fidelity content migration—moving the website in under an hour while preserving folder structures, document properties, metadata, permissions and access control—and to map Choice/LookUp values to SharePoint 2010 managed metadata. The new virtualized environment and migration were completed within four weeks, improving performance, enabling new SharePoint features (like electronic forms), and saving roughly six weeks of migration effort compared with a manual approach.
