A AvePoint Case Study
Churches of Christ in Queensland, a not‑for‑profit network of about 70 churches and extensive community services, faced a critical IT challenge: migrate a sprawling SharePoint environment (SharePoint 2003 and MOSS 2007) to SharePoint 2010 to improve search, implement taxonomy and move toward an EDRMS. With roughly 3,000 sites, 1,300 users and growing content, native upgrade paths were slow and would not preserve full fidelity (permissions, metadata, versions), and an in‑house migration was estimated to take more than six months.
Dimension Data used AvePoint’s DocAve Migrator and DocAve Content Manager to plan, test and execute the move, running jobs outside business hours and completing the migration within a month (actual data transfer over a weekend). The team migrated ~50 GB across 138 site collections and more than 3,000 sites—thousands of documents, versions, and tens of thousands of list items/pages—with all security and metadata intact, automated customisation resets, and empowered the IT help desk to relocate user content on demand, saving the organisation months of work and consolidating to a central SharePoint 2010 farm.
