Central Institute of Technology Provides Students with Centralised Access to More than 100,000 File Share Documents through Microsoft® SharePoint® with DocAve®

Central Institute of Technology, a large Perth-based training provider serving about 29,000 students across 400 courses, needed 24/7 centralized access to lecture notes, presentations and handouts but was concerned about migrating more than 100,000 files into SharePoint and exceeding Microsoft’s recommended content database limits. The institute also wanted to reduce campus printing costs by enabling students to access materials online.

By deploying AvePoint’s DocAve Connector (with implementation support from NEC Australia), Central connected multi-terabyte file shares to SharePoint without migration, giving students and staff a single point of access while keeping content on file servers. The solution delivered online access to over 100,000 documents, enabled SharePoint features like full-text search, workflows and versioning, cut printing costs by about 10%, and avoided costly additional SQL Server storage.
