Case Study: Austrian Post achieves faster, higher-quality application development with Avanade

The company profits from dynamic application lifecycle management for its IT application development

Austrian Post, one of Austria’s largest employers with about 24,000 staff handling hundreds of millions of letters, packages and media items each year, faced a fragmented IT landscape where roughly 200 applications were developed across disparate systems. That lack of a unified platform hindered transparency, collaboration and the organization’s digital transformation goals for its ~100‑person application development team.

Partnering with Avanade, Austrian Post adopted Microsoft Visual Studio Team Services on the European Azure cloud to create a homogeneous ALM platform with a central code repository and automated build, test and deployment pipelines. The move delivered faster, higher‑quality releases (updates to the letter‑logistics app that once took three weeks can now be completed in a fraction of that time), improved visibility across teams, and ongoing plans to extend automation for request management and rollout processes.
