Raiffeisen Bank International (RBI), an Austrian corporate and investment bank with about 50,000 employees across 2,400 locations in Central and Eastern Europe, needed to modernize its workplace to support mobile, transnational collaboration. Its legacy Lotus Notes system lacked mobile access, real-time communication and co‑authoring, leading to excessive email attachments, long review cycles and inefficient cross‑border workflows.

RBI migrated to Microsoft Office 365 in the cloud with Microsoft and Avanade, pairing a technical rollout with focused change management, training and a coordinated “big bang” launch. The Office 365 suite (OneDrive, SharePoint, Teams, Skype, Outlook) delivered secure mobile access, real‑time co‑authoring and integrated communications, reducing infrastructure costs, shortening review cycles and enabling collaborative work for over 50,000 users across 15 countries.
