A Avanade Case Study
A global optical retailer with more than 700 U.S. stores (and additional locations in China and Mexico), opening 40+ new stores a year and aiming to double its footprint, struggled after rapid growth and acquisitions with disconnected, home‑grown financial and resource‑planning systems. These silos made consistent financial reporting, inventory control and scalable planning difficult, limiting the company’s ability to manage growth.
Avanade implemented Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012—customizing the platform and deploying the financial module (general ledger, accounts receivable and accounts payable) using its Connected Methods—to standardize reporting and consolidate transactional data from stores into a central system. The result is consistent, enterprise‑wide financials, scalable, cost‑effective reporting and a single integrated view for finance teams, with plans to extend the ERP to inventory and other planning functions.
