North Shore Credit Union, a member-owned financial institution with 320 employees serving nearly 40,000 members, faced a collaboration crisis: a 10-year intranet had become overgrown (more than 6,000 pages), hard to manage and update, and created a content-posting bottleneck that left employees unable to find timely, relevant information. The aging, highly customized platform frustrated managers and tied up IT resources.
Working with Avanade, North Shore deployed a SharePoint 2010 intranet in six to eight months, migrating 3,000 relevant pages, standardizing templates and adding permission-based widgets so business owners could publish directly. The result was dramatically improved search and findability, faster content posting (days to seconds), a more engaging home page, freed IT capacity for strategic work, and a scalable foundation for future integrations like Lync and business intelligence.
