Case Study: Nokia Siemens Networks achieves seamless global IT integration and independence with Avanade

A Avanade Case Study

Preview of the Nokia Siemens Networks Case Study

Nokia Siemens Networks - Customer Case Study

Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN), created by the 2006 merger of Nokia and Siemens’ mobile divisions, needed to merge two separate IT estates to support the new company. By late 2007 NSN engaged Accenture and Avanade to define a carve‑out and transfer strategy and to address the technical, structural and cultural challenges of unifying the businesses.

Over an 18‑month program Accenture and Avanade built a new global IT infrastructure (DNS, DHCP, file systems, proxy servers), migrated workstations and moved more than 70,000 users across 400+ locations—transferring 7,000+ servers, 80,000 clients and 200 TB of data and thousands of applications. They set up COSO, COMO and a Support Enablement Team to ensure continuity, completed the project in October 2009 with minimal disruption, and enabled NSN to become an independent company with a strengthened market position.
