NHS Digital needed a secure, scalable way to improve digital collaboration across health and social care, while safely moving a user base of more than a million people off a legacy NHSmail service. The challenge was to connect doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and other professionals across 13,000 organisations and support better patient care with reliable collaboration tools.

Avanade, working on the NHSmail platform with Accenture, designed and delivered the new service and supported the migration at scale. The solution transitioned 1 million users with minimal disruption, added about 150,000 more users afterward, and now blocks more than 1 billion malicious emails per month, while also enabling Skype for Business and Office 365 Hybrid to support more efficient, secure collaboration.
