Melin Collectors, a Norway-based billing and debt collection specialist with over 90% share of the health services niche, faced rapid growth that strained its largely paper-based operations. Manual document scanning, data entry and daily reporting drove a backlog that grew despite headcount rising from 8 to 24, prompting the company to seek automation to handle increasing workloads without continual hiring while preserving jobs.

Partnering with Avanade, Melin implemented Blue Prism RPA on Microsoft Azure, piloting automated workflows over eight weeks and targeting 20 priority processes. Automation was deployed on more than 80% of identified processes, eliminating a backlog of tens of thousands of cases within a month, cutting manual effort by an estimated 53% and completing 89% of outstanding cases with no human involvement—improving efficiency and employee experience while maintaining staff.
