Hessen school administration gains effective IT services through innovation and teamwork

Avanade partnered with the Hessen Ministry of Education (Department Z.6) to modernize the LUSD teacher and student database, which supports about 2,200 schools and 6,000 users. The challenge was to increase agility and flexibility in development while preserving the application’s stability and availability for critical day-to-day school operations.

Avanade introduced SCRUM, Microsoft Team Foundation Server (TFS), a new organizational structure and centralized process/application lifecycle management, plus integrated development and testing infrastructure. The result was faster, smaller release cycles, greater transparency and built‑in quality control—delivering higher user satisfaction and a stable, more responsive LUSD supported by a trusted, collaborative team.
