Helsenorge.no and the Norwegian Directorate of Health (Helsedirektoratet) faced a challenge after 2012 legislation required national quality indicators to help citizens and providers assess healthcare performance. Although patients have the right to choose their hospital, they lacked standardized, easy-to-understand information; the directorate needed to align reporting standards and create a user-friendly way to present and manage indicator data and updates.

Accenture and Avanade worked with the directorate to combine indicators from health and medical registers and deliver a portfolio of reports using Microsoft SQL Server, SharePoint and PowerPivot. The solution automated adding new indicators with backend statistical models, verifications and workflows, enabling real-time, consumer-facing comparisons on Helsenorge.no. Built in a six-week Agile engagement, the platform helped citizens make informed choices and earned a finalist spot in DND’s “Datawarehouse of the Year” 2013.
