CEDA International, one of North America’s largest specialized industrial maintenance and construction services providers, faced an aging IT environment—Windows XP and Lotus Notes—that created collaboration bottlenecks, growing help-desk demand and rising maintenance complexity. Seeking better user experience and easier IT management, CEDA partnered with Avanade to evaluate and modernize its desktop and email platforms.
Avanade planned and executed a migration to Windows 7, Office 2010, Exchange 2010 and Microsoft Lync, plus System Center and a secure gateway, migrating 800 users on time and under budget and building a redundant infrastructure with 99.99% availability. The transformation cut desktop configuration from 2–4 hours to 50–70 minutes, saved an estimated 1,000 hours in migration effort, improved productivity and collaboration, enabled further integration with Dynamics AX and SharePoint, and transferred operational knowledge to CEDA’s IT team.
