Bryan Cave LLP, a global law firm with more than 800 lawyers in 14 offices, was hindered by an outdated, patchwork intranet that made it difficult to find and manage documents across more than 50,000 client matters. The firm sought a supported, maintainable solution to improve collaboration and lawyer productivity without rebuilding its entire IT stack.

Avanade enrolled Bryan Cave in Microsoft’s Early Adopters and Rapid Deployment programs and built a SharePoint 2007–based intranet with per-matter sites, My Site personal pages, site collections for scalability, concise URLs, and integrations with Active Directory, Outlook and Cisco systems. The solution gave lawyers fingertip access to client documents, automated RSS updates and richer collaboration, boosting productivity, supporting the firm’s “one firm” model, and enabling a planned client extranet while transferring SharePoint expertise to Bryan Cave’s developers.
