Avanade supports Centrica’s 50% increase in trading volumes

Centrica’s Energy, Marketing & Trading division needed to upgrade its Endur ETRM platform under a tight eight‑month deadline to meet winter trading and new regulatory requirements. The existing system was struggling with performance and availability (about six incidents per month), costly to maintain, nearing end‑of‑life, and would have required running four platform versions and extended user‑acceptance testing over the summer—risks the business could not accept.

Centrica selected Avanade, which deployed a blended onshore/offshore team, daily scrums, rigorous reporting, two full dress rehearsals and automated test tooling that cut test cycles from a week to under a day, then executed a weekend cutover that succeeded on time and on budget. Post‑upgrade the platform runs faster and more reliably: eight‑hour batches now complete in 5.5 hours (31% faster), APM deal processing is over 95% faster, pages were reduced by 90%, high‑severity incidents fell sharply (from an average of 11 P1/P2 per year to 2 in six months), and the system now supports continued growth to ~1 million trades.
