Avanade helps ITOCHU digitalize its workplace with DesignOps

ITOCHU, a leading Japanese sogo shosha with operations in over 60 countries, faced an aging intranet (originally built in 1998) that made content updates slow and hindered mobile access and usability. Management prioritized improving usability and mobile experience while keeping existing content, and selected Microsoft SharePoint on Azure with Avanade as partner to modernize the workplace.

Avanade applied its DesignOps-led approach with a mix of Agile and waterfall delivery to rebuild the intranet on SharePoint/Office 365 and Azure, and launched responsive mobile apps (directory, map navigation and IT guide) using Xamarin and Azure App Service. The new platform delivered stronger search, simpler content updates and access-rights management, positive employee feedback, faster information access on mobile, and measurable productivity gains across the organization.
