Avanade helps improve access to a world-renowned medical resource

Avanade partnered with MSD to redesign the long-standing MSD Manual online as part of MSD’s Global Medical Knowledge 2020 initiative to eliminate print and expand free access to reliable medical information worldwide. The existing platform no longer provided the scalability, analytics or capabilities needed to support continual updates from 350 medical experts, multi-language publishing and a global audience target of up to 3 billion professionals and patients.

Avanade rebuilt the site on a Sitecore CMS and Microsoft Azure infrastructure, delivering features such as full-site search, multilingual support (10 languages), integrated multimedia, analytics, SEO and easy content administration—while keeping the resource ad- and registration-free. The relaunched MSD Manual now hosts 10,000+ resources, maintains 150,000+ professional and patient relationships across platforms, serves roughly 290,000 page views per day and continues to expand its global reach.
