A global asset management firm with about 3,000 employees across multiple subsidiaries faced a fragmented collaboration environment: no single intranet destination, low employee adoption of legacy tools, and virtually no standardized document management or templates, which blocked cross-company work and made it hard to locate expertise across time zones. Avanade was engaged to take a long-term, strategic view of collaboration rather than just addressing immediate technology gaps.

Avanade developed a three-year roadmap and consolidated disparate systems onto a scalable SharePoint 2010 foundation, adding Team Sites, MySite profiles, NewsGator search and social features, a single document repository, and standardized templates and governance. The rollout improved discoverability and cross‑company collaboration, eased legal and IT concerns, and drove strong adoption—more than one-third of employees created MySite pages and Team Site usage approached 80%—while freeing IT to focus on higher-value initiatives.
