NayaMed, a start-up spun out of Medtronic, launched the world’s first eCommerce platform for implantable medical devices to streamline hospital purchasing. Facing a highly regulated industry, complex country- and hospital-specific workflows, SAP back-office integration and RFID traceability — all on a tight seven-month timeline and a €1.5M budget — NayaMed needed an agile, fully integrated B2B/B2C solution that hospital staff could use easily.
Avanade delivered a Microsoft Dynamics xRM–based platform (ASP.NET/HTML5/.NET) that combined CRM, eCommerce, order traceability, help desk and SAP integration with a tablet-friendly interface and online training. The system went live on schedule, stayed within budget, began taking orders the following month, cut sales-force requirements by roughly 90% versus traditional reps, and provided a flexible foundation for future mobile and service expansions.
