Case Study: PWN achieves increased flexibility and service reliability with Avanade ESB solution

Accenture and Avanade deliver enterprise service bus (ESB) solution

PWN, a Dutch water company serving over 780,000 households and businesses in Noord-Holland and delivering more than 106 billion liters of drinking water annually, needed a way to synchronize its customer self-service portal (meter readings, personal details, billing) with multiple back-end systems. To address this challenge, PWN partnered with Accenture and Avanade to design an enterprise service bus (ESB) architecture and integration strategy.

Accenture and Avanade planned, designed and deployed an ESB-based solution using Microsoft BizTalk Server 2013, WCF and Azure Service Bus, applying SOA principles so services are flexible and reusable and are maintained via Avanade Managed Services. The result: faster composition and adjustment of business processes, improved service quality, reliability, transparency and maintainability, and immediate reuse of the ESB for three additional projects with more planned.
