Commenco, Kansas City's largest authorized Motorola Solutions dealer with nearly 60 years in business, sells and services two-way radios, 9-1-1 equipment, mobile scanners, wireless infrastructure, and surveillance systems. The company was relying on salespeople to calculate sales tax for quotes and proposals, which led to incorrect taxes, lost revenue, and frustrated customers—especially because Commenco sells across multiple tax jurisdictions and a new ConnectWise quoting system still couldn't resolve the tax complexity.
To fix this, Commenco integrated Avalara AvaTax with ConnectWise (implemented in late 2016/early 2017), using Avalara’s prebuilt connector to automate sales and use tax calculations. The straightforward rollout eliminated costly guesswork, delivered accurate, consistent taxes on quotes and invoices, freed the sales team from manual calculations, and increased compliance and confidence in proposals.
