Warsteiner Brewery, part of the Warsteiner Group, needed a reliable way to centrally store, version, and protect PLC and production data across its operations engineering teams. With multiple departments, many interconnected machines, and little time available during breakdowns, the brewery wanted to avoid lost backups, reduce search time, and make sure the latest controller versions were always available. It used AUVESY-MDT’s versiondog data management and version control system to address this challenge.

AUVESY-MDT implemented versiondog as a central server-client solution for managing PLC projects, backups, change histories, and related documents such as plans and Excel files. The system helped Warsteiner localize errors quickly, restore plants faster, prevent missed backups, and see exactly what changed, when, and by whom. The brewery now performs around 40 backups per day and 300 to 400 per week, and it also reports smoother collaboration with external companies and significant time savings through centralized access to current data.
