A AutoStore Case Study
ERIMA, a German sportswear manufacturer and distributor, faced significant logistical challenges due to seasonal demand peaks and the immense task of consolidating 3.5 million items from nine separate warehouses into a single, centralized facility. The company needed a warehouse automation system that could adapt to its fluctuating needs and support its growth. To address this, they partnered with AutoStore and system integrator AM Logistic Solutions.
The solution implemented was a two-story AutoStore automated storage and retrieval system, occupying 2,100 square meters and initially utilizing 150,000 bins serviced by 51 robots. This system, supported by 11 workstations, streamlined the entire process from inbound to outbound storage. As a result, ERIMA achieved improved digital stock control, drastically reduced storage distances, and increased daily output to 25,000-45,000 items packed across two shifts. The AutoStore system proved to be fast and highly reliable with minimal downtime, allowing operations to continue overnight and contributing to a planned return on investment within five years.
