SkalHuset.se Automates Its New Warehouse AutoStore

SkalHuset, an online retailer of mobile and computer accessories, faced a significant challenge in keeping up with increasing order volume. Their manual picking, consolidation, and packing procedures were strained, making it difficult to meet tight delivery deadlines and control costs. To consolidate its decentralized storage and improve inventory planning, the company sought a warehouse management solution and turned to the AutoStore automated storage and retrieval system (ASRS) implemented by vendor Kardex.

The solution from AutoStore consisted of a robotic cube storage system with 10 robots, 3,500 bins, and 3 workstations installed in a 147 m² area. This implementation allowed SkalHuset to significantly increase order processing speed and optimize storage density. The AutoStore system enabled uninterrupted inventory replenishment during picking, reduced administration costs, and provided the scalable capacity for future growth without impacting daily operations.
