Polaris Sees 150% Faster Pick Rate with AutoStore

Polaris, a manufacturer of off-road vehicles and powersports equipment, faced significant challenges with limited storage space, worker fatigue from excessive walking, and managing a large and growing inventory at its Ohio distribution center. To address these issues, the customer turned to vendor AutoStore for an automated goods-to-person storage and retrieval system.

The solution implemented by AutoStore utilized a dense storage grid with 74 robots to retrieve bins and bring them to employees at workstations, which was integrated with conveyor and packaging technology. This resulted in a 150% faster pick rate and a 50% reduction in pick-to-pack time for Polaris. The AutoStore system also tripled storage capacity, significantly improved order accuracy, and drastically reduced operator fatigue.
