Large-Scale Automation Turbocharges Delivery for Best Buy

Best Buy, a major consumer electronics retailer, faced significant challenges in its logistics network due to a surge in e-commerce demand. Their traditional warehousing solutions struggled with increased online order volumes and a growing number of products, creating bottlenecks that prevented them from meeting customer expectations for fast, next-day delivery. To maintain its competitive edge, Best Buy turned to the vendor AutoStore for a large-scale warehouse automation solution.

AutoStore implemented eight of its automated storage and retrieval systems across Best Buy's distribution network. This solution utilized robots on a grid to retrieve products, integrated with conveyor systems and warehouse management software. The results were highly successful, enabling next-day delivery for 50 million customers, saving over 1,000 labor hours, and allowing for much later order cut-off times. The AutoStore system also provided greater efficiency, scalability, and a reduction in the operation's carbon footprint.
