A AutoStore Case Study
Sport Okay, an e-commerce retailer specializing in alpine sports equipment, faced the challenge of fulfilling its promise of next-day delivery to customers while operating from a compact, two-floor warehouse in Innsbruck, Austria. To support its rapid international growth and meet high customer expectations, the company turned to vendor AutoStore for a warehouse automation solution, implemented by partner HÖRMANN Intralogistics.
The solution from AutoStore was a tailor-made, two-phase automated storage and retrieval system. The initial implementation featured a 7,320-square-foot grid with 22 robots and over 27,000 bins, enabling a throughput of 400 picks per hour. This allowed Sport Okay to achieve 100% next-day delivery several days a week. The AutoStore system is highly compact and energy-efficient, and its expandable design allows for a future doubling of capacity to 800 picks per hour without disrupting ongoing operations.
