Apotea, a leading Swedish online pharmacy, faced a significant logistics challenge when the COVID-19 pandemic caused a sudden surge in demand. Their existing system was unable to cope with processing approximately 50,000 daily orders and scaling to meet their high annual growth rate. They needed a space-efficient, automated warehouse solution to maintain their position as a top e-pharmacy, which led them to the vendor AutoStore.

AutoStore implemented a high-density automated storage and retrieval system at Apotea's facility. The solution consisted of a grid with 30 R5 Robots, 20,000 bins, and four Carousel Ports, integrated with eOperator piece-picking robots. This enabled 24/7 operations and increased efficiency, allowing Apotea to achieve a calculated capacity of 800 order lines per hour and preparing them to scale up to 100,000 daily orders. The system from AutoStore provided the scalability and performance needed to exceed customer expectations for fast, accurate, and free deliveries.
