Case Study: Vontobel achieves modernization of core banking and end-to-end process control with Automic Business Automation

A Automic Case Study

Preview of the Vontobel Case Study

Staying competitive means modernizing core banking processes without disruption

Bank Vontobel, a Zurich-based private bank founded in 1924, faced the need to modernize core banking processes without disrupting day-to-day operations. Years of mainframe and client/server systems with numerous point-to-point interfaces had produced a complex “bowl of spaghetti,” making routine changes, new functionality and regulatory responses slow and risky.

Vontobel moved to a service-based architecture, adopting Avaloq Banking Suite and using JCAPS for synchronous workflows while implementing the Automic Business Automation platform as the integration layer for asynchronous and batch processing and cross‑platform scheduling. The new approach delivered end-to-end visibility and control, faster parallel processing and automated recovery, reduced turnaround times, increased staff productivity and improved ROI on existing IT applications.
