A Automic Case Study
Singapore Power, a leading energy utility serving over one million customers in Singapore and operations in Australia, faced growing strain on its SAP-driven billing and core systems as adoption expanded and an ECC 6 upgrade introduced strict processing order. Relying on in‑house batch scripts created long enhancement lead times (2–3 days), tight overnight windows that risked missing 8am SLAs, manual errors, and key‑person dependency — so DC Operations sought an enterprise automation solution to handle mass SAP processing, parameter management, eliminate time dependencies, reduce operator error, and manage file transfers.
After a proof-of-concept, Singapore Power implemented Automic to automate SAP R/3, CRM and BW (and later non‑SAP systems) via a single interface, with flexible calendaring, job synchronization, automated spool/file distribution and real‑time notifications. The result: a 6‑hour reduction in batch latency for HR, elimination of daily manual report handling (saving about an hour), 2–3 days’ reduction in ABAP scheduling effort, improved auditability and compliance, reduced human error and key‑man risk, and doubled the administrator‑to‑system ratio — all achieved without adding staff.
