A Automic Case Study
Endress+Hauser InfoServe, the 200-person IT arm of the Endress+Hauser Group, needed a modern job-scheduling solution after migrating SAP systems to z/Linux. Their legacy host-based scheduler couldn’t provide cross-platform control or detailed monitoring (especially for SAP R/3 and SAP BW workflows), created manual handoffs across a heterogeneous landscape, and lacked the flexibility to integrate event-driven and time-zone–aware processes.
They chose Automic Workload Automation, which runs on z/Linux without extra hardware and is DB2 compatible, to centralize and automate cross-system processing. Automic now orchestrates SAP and BW jobs to Windows and FTP, supports multi–time-zone operations and dynamic event-driven tasks, and has centralized control of mainframe operations (including weekly restarts of 75+ SAP systems). The migration cut scheduler objects from about 10,000 to 6,000, supports roughly 30,000 jobs daily, reduced manual intervention, and lowered administration costs.
