Automic Achieves Top Marks at University of North Texas

The University of North Texas (UNT), serving about 35,000 students, replaced a 20-year mainframe student administration system with PeopleSoft and quickly ran into a major scheduling gap: the new platform lacked the mainframe’s sophisticated batch automation. That gap forced heavy manual intervention—six senior staff spent most of their days managing Financial Aid job sequences—caused errors, stretched processing windows, and made it difficult to coordinate PeopleSoft with external systems like Cognos, Informatica and Kronos.

UNT implemented Automic to centralize and automate cross-application scheduling with an object-oriented, easy-to-use toolset and connectors for PeopleSoft and external apps. The result: end-to-end automation of roughly 12,000 monthly jobs, a 90% reduction in manual processing, Financial Aid runs cut from nearly a day to a few hours, fewer errors, lower maintenance overhead and much better visibility and reliability across systems.
