W&W Gruppe rips through Its backlog in record time with RPA

Wüstenrot & Württembergische (W&W Gruppe) is a German financial-services conglomerate serving about six million customers. In 2016 its Center of Excellence uncovered a four‑year backlog in a life‑insurance claims area and, lacking the workforce to clear it, evaluated RPA vendors and selected Automation Anywhere to address the problem.

From August to December 2016 W&W deployed 18 bots to automate tasks such as claims processing and regulatory checks, eliminating the four‑year backlog in four months. The program has since automated 56 processes and processed about 150,000 tasks, saving roughly 1.5 hours per reimbursement document, freeing staff to focus on customers and enabling departments to build their own bots under COE guidance.
