Winter Group, Inc. (WGi) is a San Diego–based wholesale general agency for truck transportation insurance that supports about 100 retail agents. Faced with a federal website that only displayed 10 records at a time and required nearly three hours to download 100 entries, WGi needed an automated way to pull trucker insurance details (vehicle counts, carrier, coverage and expiry dates) so brokers could be given targeted, zip-code-sorted leads.

WGi deployed Automation Anywhere to run 24x7, scrape the federal site, port data into Excel for deduplication and zip-code sorting, and distribute leads to retailers. The bot pulled nearly 60,000 California records in about three weeks, and WGi has begun scaling the solution to other states; the automation contributed to a significant revenue spike—about $10 million more than last year’s projection despite the recession—and enabled plans to automate quoting and policy renewals to cut months of work to days.
