San Diego County’s Health and Human Services Agency, which administers programs like food assistance, TANF and medical benefits, needed to link its legacy CalWIN eligibility system with an EMC Documentum repository to digitize and verify supporting documents. With more than 500 forms and hundreds of conditional business rules determining which fields to check, agents faced slow, manual cross‑system verification—and CalWIN’s legacy code could not be changed.

Automation Anywhere delivered a non‑invasive, front‑end automation using SMART Automation Technology that detects open forms, selects the required verification fields, retrieves relevant documents from Documentum, and executes checks with a single hotkey. Rolled out to roughly 2,000 agents, the solution sped decisions, cut verification time and human errors, lowered cost and risk by avoiding custom coding, and delivered immediate ROI and productivity gains.
