RPA Wins Over PGGM Employees and Saves Company 1,200 Hours Annually

PGGM, a Dutch pension-services firm managing EUR 211 billion in assets, faced a heavy burden of manual, Excel-based work in its accounting system—particularly for invoice processing—which kept employees tied to data entry instead of analytical tasks. The company needed a fast way to reduce manual effort and free staff for higher-value work, so it selected robotic process automation (RPA).

After a pilot with an external consultant, PGGM adopted Automation Anywhere and built its first bots in under two weeks, ultimately deploying 10 bots to automate cost administration, data conversion, reconciliations and cash‑flow processing. The automation reduced invoice handling to a single human touch, saved about 1,200 hours annually, increased employee acceptance, and set the stage for a Center of Excellence and further cognitive automation trials.
