Restaurant Franchisee Automates Scripted File Transfer Of POS Data

Paradigm Investment Group, the second-largest Hardee’s franchisee with 87 restaurants across four southeastern states, needed a secure, reliable way to gather daily POS data for consolidated reporting. Previously outsourcing the task and facing a quoted $20,000 cost for a managed file transfer solution, the company’s new CTO sought an automated, lower-cost alternative.

Using Automation Anywhere, Paradigm automated an end-of-day workflow that picks up POS exports, moves them to a temp folder, zips and renames files by store, embeds credentials in a compiled executable, securely transfers files via SFTP to a collocation site, and purges files older than ten days. The automation replaced outsourcing, paid for itself within months, cut costs to a fraction of a managed utility, and gave the company full control over POS data transfer with scope to automate additional processes.
