A Automation Anywhere Case Study
MedAmerica, Inc., a medical practice management company serving hundreds of physicians across hospitals and clinics, needed to reliably receive and process daily patient demographic files from multiple hospital systems. These files arrived in varied formats (text, PDF, encrypted archives) on servers or hospital websites and had to be retrieved, decrypted and mapped into MedAmerica’s billing databases each day—an error-prone, interactive workload handled by the three-person Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) group.
MedAmerica deployed Automation Anywhere to automate front‑end tasks—establishing VPN/FTP connections, downloading, unzipping and decrypting files, printing and transferring data for database mapping—and turned routine jobs into executables for future virtual deployment. The automation has eliminated repetitive manual steps, enabled daily extraction for multiple sites (five fully automated so far), freed personnel and workstations for higher‑value work, and saved the EDI team nearly two hours of interactive work per day (30+ minutes for one operator).
