Dai-ichi Life Insurance Saves 132,000 Hours Annually with Automation Anywhere RPA

Dai-ichi Life Insurance, one of Japan’s oldest insurers with over 55,000 employees, faced widespread inefficient, manual work in its personal insurance operations—about 1,600 staff handling policy purchases, contract management and payments. The company sought robotic process automation to streamline clerical tasks and improve operational efficiency.

After a proof of concept, Dai-ichi implemented server‑based Automation Anywhere RPA in 2017–18, enabling non‑programmers to build bots and carefully rolling out automation across 460 tasks in dozens of departments. The solution automated accounts payable/receivable, contract and asset management and other processes, saving roughly 132,000 hours annually and setting the stage to automate thousands more tasks with OCR and rule engines.
