Australia Post Optimizes Accounting Workflows with RPA Bots

Australia Post, Australia’s government-owned postal service with 4,356 post offices and global distribution, faced large volumes of manual back-office accounting work that slowed workflows and limited staff development. The accounting services team needed to automate repetitive tasks to improve efficiency and give employees opportunities to upskill.

They ran a pilot with Automation Anywhere and scaled to 120 RPA bots across 25 processes—including financial journals, credit uploads, account maintenance, agency setup and material maintenance—saving about 18,000 hours a year and cutting accounting costs by 15%. Around 90 staff completed Automation Anywhere training (many became RPA-certified), and Australia Post plans to expand automation further with assisted bots, chatbots and AI-driven capabilities.
