ANZ’s Global Hubs leadership, led by Simen Munter and Pankajam Sridevi, faced significant operational challenges: seasonal volume swings that forced costly hiring and training cycles, error-prone manual processes, and inflexible legacy systems that limited agility. They needed a fast, scalable way to improve accuracy and throughput while upskilling staff and avoiding large upfront process reengineering.

ANZ rapidly adopted Robotics Process Automation with Automation Anywhere, using a grassroots, two-team model and a focus on quick wins by automating standard transactions first. In six months they deployed about 100 robots (with a further 100 planned), achieved cost savings often around 40%, reduced end-to-end delivery times, improved quality and customer satisfaction, and are scaling toward hundreds more robots plus meta-bots and machine learning to handle exceptions.
