A Autodesk Case Study
Y.A. studio, a San Francisco architecture firm, was challenged with leading its first major, large-scale affordable housing project. Their goal for the 4200 Geary senior residence was to design healthy, toxin-free environments while coordinating closely with future residents, stakeholders, and contractors to stay on budget. To achieve this, the firm utilized Autodesk's digital design tools, including Revit, from the project's inception.
Using Autodesk's Building Information Modeling (BIM) tools, Y.A. studio created detailed 3D visualizations to communicate designs effectively, gaining early community support. The technology enabled vital coordination with consultants for clash detection and allowed the team to meticulously specify healthy, non-toxic materials. As a result, they designed a vibrant, 100% electric building teeming with biophilic elements that is pursuing a Platinum GreenPoint rating, successfully fulfilling their vision for large-scale affordable housing.
